The Balloon
Synopsis:

Shiny and new,
Blue.
Held so tightly,
It flew, on release -
To the heavens
- Escaped -
To the freshness of the air
It blew forever onwards
Up and away.
Out of sight, out of mind
Over hill and dale.
On a journey to something new.
It drifted low over landscapes,
Green and fresh.

Dancing with skylarks in a park
Dipping down over cool lakes and dashing rivers.
Up stream - to be bounced high.
Riding on the tide of the air.
It faired well.
On its joureny to a bright tomorrow.
Baking in the sunlight,
It glistened and shimmered -
A million miles from its starting ground.

Still going strong,
It took in the sights.
Felt the lightness and brightness of heavens space.
Up here it's beautiful, crisp and clear
- Freer and freer -
Moving on, it blows higher and higher.
Reaching for the light,
Feeling bright,
It bursts into shimmering delight.

Shiny and new,

Blue.

Held so tightly,

It flew, on release -

To the heavens

- Escaped -

To the freshness of the air

It blew forever onwards

Up and away.

Out of sight, out of mind

Over hill and dale.

On a journey to something new.

It drifted low over landscapes,

Green and fresh.

Dancing with skylarks in a park

Dipping down over cool lakes and dashing rivers.

Up stream - to be bounced high.

Riding on the tide of the air.

It faired well.

On its joureny to a bright tomorrow.

Baking in the sunlight,

It glistened and shimmered -

A million miles from its starting ground.

Still going strong,

It took in the sights.

Felt the lightness and brightness of heavens space.

Up here it's beautiful, crisp and clear

- Freer and freer -

Moving on, it blows higher and higher.

Reaching for the light,

Feeling bright,

It bursts into shimmering delight.

I really like this

Claire,

There's strength in this poem, I feel so much optimism through this poem.
When I first saw the title "The Balloon" I was curious to read it as it reminded me of a poem I had written about a black balloon. I must say, you described something hopeful and not at all what I had expected.
